Chisinau, Nov. 10 /MOLDPRES/- The priority directions of cooperation between the Government and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the next Country Strategy 2023-2028, as well as projects to consolidate the energy sector were discussed today at a meeting between Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița and Matteo Patrone, Managing Director for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus at the EBRD, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The sides exchanged views on the Strategy's priorities and development directions for the next period. Also, they noted the need to strengthen the energy sector of the Republic of Moldova, through investments in the development of alternative energy sources.

"Despite the preparations we have made since the beginning of the summer, we are having a hard time coping with the energy crises that are constantly hitting us. We save a lot. This month, our citizens and state institutions have saved about 50% of their energy consumption, and we are doing everything we can to increase energy efficiency. I am sure that thanks to the EBRD's support, we will also be able to support the private sector, affected by the crisis. We thank you for all the support offered in the energy field, now that Moldova needs this help more than ever", said Gavrilița.

"We see the healthy appetite of this Government for structural reforms and we see that you are aligned with everything that means energy efficiency and inclusion. We are convinced that the help we provide goes exactly where it is needed and I want to assure you that you will have our full support in the future," said Matteo Patrone.

The officials reviewed the projects implemented with the support of the EBRD and outlined new directions for development in the field of infrastructure, including the railway one. They pointed out the importance of organizing a new support conference for the Republic of Moldova this November in Paris, during which a new financial support package for our country will be announced.
