Moldovan MPs ratified several protocols on postal services

Chisinau, Nov. 10 /MOLDPRES/- MPs voted today several draft laws, which provide for the accession to additional protocols to the General Regulations to the Universal Postal Union (UPU), to the Constitution of the Universal Postal Union, as well as accession to the Agreement on postal payment services and to the Universal Postal Convention and Protocol.
Accession to the postal payment services agreeement and its final protocol stipulates that each member country shall endeavor to ensure that postal payment services are provided or accepted by electronic means.
The Universal Postal Convention and its Final Protocol stipulate the possibility for designated operators to introduce self-declared fees per parcel and per kg, based on the domestic tariff, and the possibility for member countries to extend or modify the list of items they prohibit or conditionally admit, as import or in transit.
The Republic of Moldova has been a member of the Universal Postal Union since 1992, and in 1997, our country acceded to the UPU Constitution and other UPU acts. Currently 192 countries are part of the Universal Postal Union.
