Moldovan head of state has meeting with European Commission President

Chisinau, 10 November /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, on a working visit to Chisinau.
According to the presidential press service, the head of state said that the presence of the European Commission’s president in Chisinau was the proof of a very good dialogue and quite close relations Moldova has with the European Union, despite the difficult period through which everybody goes.
„I expressed gratitude for every support provided by the European partners to Moldova. I thank especially for the package of assistance worth 250 million euros for managing the energy crisis, announced by Ursula von der Leyen today. This financial assistance will help us diversify the energy sources and provide compensations to the low-income citizens, in order to pay the invoices next winter. The European money is invested in roads’ rehabilitation, projects on development of communities, in order to improve the living of the people from Moldova,’’ President Maia Sandu stressed in her message.
In the discussion with Mrs. von der Leyen, the head of state today reaffirmed Moldova’s strong commitment to switch to the next stage of European integration – starting negotiations. In this respect, the governance will continue the implementation of the key reforms, especially the justice one, and will insist on the fight against the corrupt groups, which further try to undermine the state and its institutions.
