Values of Francophonie - bridge between Moldova, countries of world - deputy premier says

Chisinau, Nov. 20 /MOLDPRES/- The Head of Diplomacy of the Republic of Moldova, Nicu Popescu, sent a statement after participating in the 43rd Conference of Foreign Ministers of Francophone States and the 18th Francophonie Summit in Djerba, Tunisia, the MAEIE press service has reported.

The statement reads:

"We continue to be determined internationally, engaging in active communication on all available platforms to make our voice heard and our vision for a just world based on rules and norms.

I ended my visit to Djerba, Tunisia, together with President Maia Sandu after a series of meetings on the sidelines of the meeting of foreign ministers and later the Francophonie Summit with the participation of the heads of states and governments.

Our message was firm: we called for the defense of Francophone values: peace, democracy, human rights, also speaking about the need to stand in solidarity with Ukraine, deeply affected by Russia's war.

I was glad to receive strong messages of encouragement on our irreversible path to the European Union from our allies in France - President Emmanuel Macron, Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, Canada - Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly, Belgium - Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib, Greece - Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, Bulgaria - Foreign Minister Nikolay Milkov, Cyprus - Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides and many other colleagues who gathered in Djerba.

Our participation in this format means diplomacy on several levels, in an organization in which 88 countries from different regions of the world participate, united by the values of Francophonie.

I am happy to announce that the Republic of Moldova has supported the re-election for another term of the secretary general of the International Organization of La Francophonie, Louise Mushikiwabo, with whom we will cooperate closely in future projects and initiatives within the organization.

The values of Francophonie are our bridge to the countries of the world, and the opportunities are for the benefit of all our citizens".
