Moldovan, American officials broach cooperation

Chisinau, Dec. 6 /MOLDPRES/- President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu discussed yesterday in Washington with Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. The two officials spoke about the difficulties faced by Moldova and our entire region due to Russia's war against Ukraine, and the solutions we are trying to find to deal with the current crises, the presidential press service has reported.

"I emphasized the importance of US support for strengthening democracy in our country and advancing reforms, especially after we became a candidate state for joining the European Union. We also talked about the regional security risks and the impact of the energy crisis on our citizens and the country's economy, and we said that the American partnership is essential to deal with them," said Maia Sandu.

Maia Sandu conveyed to Nancy Pelosi appreciation for more than three decades of experience in American politics, dedicating to the protection and strengthening of democracy in the world.

Maia Sandu pays a visit to Washington on 5-7 December.
