Chisinau, Dec. 7 /MOLDPRES/- Reintegration Policy Office issued a comment today on release of Oleg Horjan, held in detention for four years in the Transnistrian region.
The comment reads:
"The reintegration policy office welcomes the release of citizen Oleg Horjan from detention. During several years, the "Horjan case" was in the sights of the Bureau, the subject being frequently addressed during the negotiations at the level of political representatives, during the discussions of the working groups for human rights. On this occasion, we also express our gratitude to the OSCE Mission in the Republic of Moldova, which has always responded to the Office's requests on the given case.
Freedom of opinion, evoked lately by the team of negotiators from Tiraspol, is a right that all citizens have - including Oleg Horjan, Vadim Pogorletchii, Victor Pleșcanov, Serghei Siscov and others, who continue to be illegally detained in private places of freedom from the left side of the Dniester and from the municipality of Bender for "opinion offense". The Office reaffirms its determination to intervene with all possible forms of assistance to obtain the release from illegal detention of all persons who remain there, either because they advocated for the territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, or condemned the Russian Federation's aggression against Ukraine, or they expressed other opinions that contradict the position of the decision-makers from Tiraspol.
The subject of human rights cannot in any way be overshadowed by other points on the agenda of the negotiations between Chisinau and Tiraspol, it remains an absolute priority for Chisinau and we count on the fact that the OSCE Mission will continue to remain as sensitive to this file, including against the individual cases to which we have referred so many times in the last year".
