Forty four influenza cases recorded in Moldova last week

Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/ - The National Public Health Agency (ANSP) has informed that 44 seasonal influenza cases were registered last week.   

According to ANSP, 18 cases were recorded in Chisinau, 6 in Balti, 7 in Falesti, 5 Briceni, 3 in Edinet, 2 in Sangerei and one case in Glodeni, Ocnita and Orhei each.

At the same time, on the period 3 October – 4 December, 75 cases of flu were registered in all, 62,953 cases of acute upper respiratory tract infections and 3,279 cases of severe acute respiratory infections.     

Presently, the process of immunization against the seasonal influenza continues in Moldova. As much as 70.9 per cent of all dozes available have been used. The vaccine is administered, as priority, to people from the risk groups, those with chronic diseases and compromised immunity, pregnant women, etc. To be vaccinated for free, citizens can address at the family physician. The influenza vaccine can be administered simultaneously with the one against Covid-19.    

Also, ANSA recommends the use of protection masks, observance of the physical distance, hygiene and hands’ disinfection, covering the mouth and nose with disposable diapers during the cough and sneezing and appealing to physician at the appearance of the first symptoms.
