Moldovan president meets World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia

Chisinau, 15 December /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde, the presidential press service has reported.
In the context of the war in the neighbourhood, the head of state said that Moldova needed support, in order to create functional mechanisms of quick response to crises and reduce the degree of the country’s vulnerability. Given that one of the principal concerns is the energy security, this sector is needed to be reorganized, in order to diversify the energy sources, to be able to access them at reasonable prices and increase investments in renewable resources.
President Maia Sandu appreciated the cooperation between Moldova and the World Bank in key sectors, such as education, agriculture and improvement of public services. The head of state stressed that, in these difficult conditions, it was important to consolidate the capacities of the public institutions. Also, it is necessary to quickly develop other sectors too, which are to facilitate the economic growth, such as the IT field and digitalization.
