Chisinau, Dec. 17 /MOLDPRES/- In the agenda in Zagreb, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu had meetings with Tomo Medved, Deputy Prime Minister, Veterans' Affairs Minister of Croatia, Željko Reiner, Deputy Speaker of the Croatian Parliament and Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and Domagoj Hajduković, Chairman of the European Affairs Committee. Together with Croatian officials, Popescu discussed ways to strengthen the Moldovan-Croatian relationship, especially in the context of our country's European aspirations, the MAEIE press service has reported.

The Moldovan diplomat appreciated the firm and continuous support in achieving the objective of European integration and the openness to take over the good practices accumulated by Croatia in the negotiations. As the newest member of the EU, Croatia is an example for our country.

"We also discussed extensively the situation in the region, especially the consequences of the Russian Federation's brutal war in Ukraine, the implications it generates on a European and international level and the devastating impact in the security, energy and humanitarian sectors. I described the actions we are carrying out in Chisinau, the extensive reforms to fight corruption, ensuring the rule of law, empowering state institutions and reforming the justice sector. I thanked the interlocutors for their firm support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country within the internationally recognized borders.
