Chisinau, Dec. 21 /MOLDPRES/- Next year, the non-governmental organization Caritas Czech Republic is going to set up supported accommodation. It is a social service that facilitates the deinstitutionalization of people with mental health problems and allows them to lead an independent life.
They will house people with mental health problems in the northern and central regions of the country. The spaces will be provided free of charge by the local public authorities. The two homes will be furnished and equipped identically to a regular house and will accommodate up to six people per house.
"The sheltered housing will serve as a safe space where local authorities can place people with mental health problems or who face social difficulties and require urgent support," said Caritas Czech Country Director Vasile Vasiliev.
Thus, the residents of the home will benefit from support for integration into the community, under the constant guidance of the Community mental health centers, family doctors and social worker in the community. They will be able to acquire household, relationship and communication skills, to participate in the socio-cultural activities carried out in the community. People will receive guidance for employment in the labor.
The first housing is to be inaugurated in Glodeni. Caritas Czech Republic in partnership with the Center for Mental Health Care Development in Prague signed a collaboration agreement with Glodeni District Council and the Department of Social Assistance and Family Protection in Glodeni. The space provided by the local public authorities is to be repaired and equipped. It will initially house four people with mental health problems in the region.
