Number of respiratory infection cases increase in Moldova

Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 519 cases of influenza and 108,933 ones of acute infections of upper respiratory airways have been registered in Moldova in the last months. Data to this effect today was unveiled at a news conference given by Health Minister Ala Nemerenco.
Nemerenco noted that children up to the age of six years were the worst hit and also they had more complications.
The official said that the wave of virosis cases came after the COVID pandemic, when everybody wore masks, preserved the distance and stayed at home most time. ‘’The kindergartens did not work, more breaks were also in the activity of schools and thus, an enhanced incidence could be avoided in these two years,’’ Nemerenco specified.
The minister asked the residents to observe the same rules as during the COVID pandemic, in order to avoid the infection with virosis, noting that no restrictions would be imposed.
