Moratorium on employment in Moldova's public sector extended till 31 December 2023

Chisinau, 29 December /MOLDPRES/ - The government, at a 28 December meeting, approved the extension of the temporary moratorium on the employment of public sector staff in the vacant positions registered. This is necessary for a better management of the financial resources and their directing to the priority fields.
Thus, the cabinet proposed the prolongation, till 31 December 2023, of the moratorium for those 16,000 vacant offices, recorded on 30 November 2022.
“During the moratorium, the employment of staff in vacant positions is made with the monthly maintenance of the number of vacant offices per one public authority/public institution, indicated in the draft’s annexes. At the same time, the draft’s provisions allow possibility of the employment, on the moratorium’s period, of the strictly needed staff for the fulfillment of the task of the public authority or in case of reorganizations, by exceeding the indicated number of vacant positions, in coordination with the Finance Ministry,’’ the document reads.
Also, the cabinet recommends that the administrative and territorial units, independent public authorities and the National Social Insurances House suspend the employment in the vacant offices registered on the same date.
The draft’s stipulations do not apply to the positions for which contest was announced on the date of the decision’s approval.
