Reintegration Policies Bureau reacts to Tiraspol's pretentions in process of import of food consignments to Moldova

Chisinau, 13 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Reintegration Policies Bureau has provided specifications on Tiraspol’s pretentions in the process of import in Moldova of consignments of food products which pose risks to the food security. 

The commentary reads:

”In the context of the politicizing by Tiraspol of the issue of import to Moldova of consignments of food products, carried out by companies from the Transnistrian region, we specify that, to be introduced in Moldova and placed on market, we must ensure the compliance with the requirements of the legislation in force and the international exigencies in the field, including with the norms of inoffensiveness, quality and food security.  

When we find out non-conformities, infringements, ascertainings of presence of infestations, unclear things as to the real purpose of the batches or lack of compliance between the consignments and the certified guarantees, the national competent authorities have right to instruct the carrying out of qualified controls/expertises, to undertake the actions needed, to compile the proper acts and approve legally grounded decisions, with the respective notification of the competent authorities of the exporting countries, of origin or destination.   

Also, if following specialty controls, the aforementioned circumstances are found out, the inspectors are empowered, under law, to carry out the following actions:  

1) they arrest the consignment of goods for removing the non-conformities , with the compilation of the act on arrest and its submission to the customs bodies;

2) take the final decision as regards the compilation of the act on admission or return, with its submission to the customs bodies;  

3) destroy the consignment of goods, according to the procedure established in the national legislation. 

The communication on these subjects and the coordination of measures/steps necessary to be made represent object of the exclusive interaction between the authorities empowered under the law and representatives of the importing/exporting companies, without intermediaries and interventions on behalf of the subjects which do not have the competences/powers needed.’’
