Departed folk music singer of Moldova would have turned 80

Chisinau, 15 January /MOLDPRES/ - A folk music singer, Merited Artist of Moldova Teodor Negara would have turned 80 years today.
Teodor Negara was born in the Sauca village, Soroca county, presently Ocnita district, in 1943. He studied at the Elena Sarbu Culture School (currently – the Nicolae Botgros Arts College) from Soroca (1961-65) and at the Gavriil Musicescu Arts Institute (presently – Music, Theatre and Fine Arts Academy) from Chisinau in 1965-69.
During 1965-1990, Negara was soloist of the Folclor Folk Music Orchestra of the Moldovan Radio and Television. In 1989, he was awarded the title Merited Artist of Moldova.
Teodor Negara recorded over 300 folk songs.
The singer passed away on 9 October 2006 in the wake of a merciless disease.
A regional festival in the memory of Teodor Negara was initiated ten years ago and starting from 2017, it became a national one.
