Moldovan president approached country's resilience on war in Ukraine

Chisinau, 18 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu spoke at the World Economic Forum organized in Switzerland about security in Europe in the context of Russia's aggression towards Ukraine, as well as how our country is affected, the presidential press service has reported.

On the first day in Davos, the head of state approached the effects of the war in Ukraine on European states and solutions to strengthening the resilience of countries in the region. Maia Sandu noted that one of the consequences is the energy crisis, which our country is fixing including by reducing dependence on Russian gas, but there are other problems amplified by the war waged by Russia.

"Propaganda and misinformation are big problems in our country, but I think they are a problem for many countries and we need to learn together how to be more effective in countering them," she said.

On the second day, Maia Sandu participated in an event organized by the House of Ukraine in Davos, where it was discussed how Ukraine can be supported and rebuilt through investments, both in times of war, but also when peace will be restored. The head of state emphasized that the entire democratic world must support Ukraine to win and spoke about joint projects in the energy and road infrastructure that may be of interest to investors.

Also, Maia Sandu pointed out that the solidarity shown by the European Union in the context of the crises aggravated by the war in Ukraine allowed Europe to resist, to strengthen resilience and demonstrate that the values of democracy and freedom can be defended.
