About 4,400 cases of respiratory infections recorded in Moldovan capital last week

Chisinau, 23 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- About 4,400 cases of respiratory infections were recorded in the capital last week, more than 890 less than the previous week. The announcement was made today by the head of the General Directorate of Medical and Social Assistance, Boris Gîlca, at the operative meeting of the municipal services.

According to the official, of the total number of cases, 50% were adults. At the same time, during this period, 141 cases of flu were certified, 88 of which were children.

Also, last week, 64 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the capital, three less than the previous week. Health specialists have warned about a new possible wave of illnesses with Kraken variant, a substrain of SARS-CoV-2.

In the context of the current epidemiological situation, specialists recommend that upon the appearance of the first symptoms specific to respiratory infections - fever, cough, sneezing, headache, weakness, the respective persons should contact their family doctor.
