Euro to appreciate against Moldovan leu

Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/ - The single European currency on 24 January will appreciate by 0.10 lei and will have an official quotation of 20.60 lei.

The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) established an official exchange rate of 18.93 lei for the U.S. dollar, similar to the today’s one.

The Romanian leu will appreciate by 0.03 lei and will cost 4.19 lei. The Ukrainian hryvnia will maintain its value of 0.51 lei. The Russian rouble will stay at its official price of 0.27 lei.

According to data unveiled by BNM today, in December 2022, the degree of coverage of the net demand of current on behalf of economic agents through net supply of currency from private people stood at 113 per cent, against 56.3 per cent in last November.

In December 2022, the net supply of currency from private people increased by 28.8 million dollars (11 per cent) and the net demand of currency on behalf of economic agents decreased by 209 million lei (44.7 per cent). In these conditions, BNM intervened on the local interbank market through net procurements worth 75.4 million dollars.
