Moldovan foreign affairs minister meets French counterpart

Chisinau, 27 January /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu and Foreign Affairs Minister of France Catherine Colonna on 26 January in Chisinau discussed the bilateral relation with France, Moldova’s accession to the European Union, including the implementation of the action plan on the European Commission’s recommendations and the authorities’ decision to carry out the reforms needed for speeding up the European integration, the regional security situation and the consequences of Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine on Moldova, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
As the war continues, Minister Nicu Popescu discussed with his French counterpart its consequences on the region and its stability. Paris remains a firm ally of Moldova, both on the road of joining the European Union and on the way of solid reforms assumed by the authorities.
„I also discussed with the French diplomacy head the organization of the second summit of the European Political Community on 1 June; I was assured of the every support of France for its good carrying out. We established to continue the diplomatic efforts on the substance of the discussions at the summit and the priority subjects: cyber security, energy solidarity and connectivity for the citizens’ benefit.
We showed solidarity with France in condemning, as toughly as possible, the absolutely brutal attacks of Russia against the Ukrainian cities, including Odessa, which the French minister visited on 26 January, the historical centre of which was included in the List of World Heritage in Danger, highlighting the duty of the entire mankind to protect it,’’ the Moldovan official said.
