European Parliament President says Moldova deserves to be part of European family

Chisinau, 6 February /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova deserves to be part of the European family. European Parliament President Roberta Metsola today made statements to this effect at a news conference held along with Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, on a visit to Brussels.  

Roberta Metsola said that the European Union was and would be with Moldova. ‘’Following the today’s meeting, I have nothing but to convey a firm message of support on behalf of the European Parliament for Moldova on the European accession way. We must speed up your country’s integration into the single European market. The European Parliament will fulfill its obligations as to the 145 million euros provided as macro-financial support. The first installment will be made next week already, as we know that these sources are badly necessary at present,’’ the European official noted.   

PM Natalia Gavrilita expressed gratitude to the European Parliament for the support provided to Moldova on its way of joining the European family. ‘’We will find a way to be not only beneficiaries of the European assistance, but also to contribute, for our part, to an addition of security at the borders and to be part of the efforts of ensuring peace and stability on the European continent. We had a productive discussion on the progress made by Moldova in the direction of enforcement of those nine conditions formulated by the European Commission in preparing the negotiations and we started the efforts of prioritizing the harmonization of our legislation to the European one. We appreciate different types of technical and financial support, which we received, in order to lead the country further on our European integration way,’’ Natalia Gavrilita added.
