Moldovan rescuers continue mission in Turkey

Chisinau, Feb. 13 /MOLDPRES/- On 12 February the team of Moldovan rescuers participating in the mission in Turkey took over two new sectors in Ballioz and Guzelyayla, in the province of Hatay, where they carried out search and evaluation works of blocks and residential houses.
According to the IGSU, in the two new sectors, at the request of the volunteer teams, the rescuers of our country provided support with the technical equipment to identify the location of the victims stuck under the ruins.
Later, the team of Moldovan rescuers continued the intervention in Antakya, where jointly with the search and rescue teams from the Netherlands they carried out actions to evaluate the housing blocks destroyed by the earthquake.
Since the beginning of the international mission, the rescue team managed to save a three-year-old boy from the ruins of an apartment block. At the same time, Moldovan rescuers intervened in three sectors damaged by the earthquake, where they carried out search and evaluation works on a total area of about 6 km2.
The earthquakes in Turkey and Syria resulted in more than 35 thousand deaths. However the figure could increase, the authorities of the two countries said.
