Chisinau, 13 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovans from the regions hit by earthquakes in Turkey have asked for help on behalf of the authorities. They said they needed food products, water and blankets.
The spokesman for the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE), Daniel Voda, said the goods had been delivered with the support of the community and specialty organizations. ‘’The representatives of Moldova’s Embassy in Ankara continued efforts to contact 65 people of the diplomatic mission’s list, who are in the regions hit by the earthquakes. Twenty Moldovan citizens our of them said they were in safety, nine asked for specialty consular assistance and in the case of 29 people, efforts are continued to establish communication with the diplomatic mission,’’ Daniel Voda said.
At the same time, MAEIE informed about the mobilization of the honorary consuls from Moldova in Turkey. Thus, Moldova’s honorary consul from Bursa went to the Hatay city, where he set up a tent town for victims. Also, Moldova’s honorary consul from Alanya accommodates victims from Hatay in hotels of Alanya and provides assistance in victims’ carriage. Moldova’s honorary consul from Antalya delivered boxes with food products to the Gaziantep city and boxes with warm clothes for the earthquakes’ victims - to the Adiyaman city. Also, Moldova’s embassy maintains communication with the team of Moldovan rescuers.
„Decision-makers of the consular section are prepared to provide specialty assistance and if there is consular need or emergency, our citizens can ask for help or information on behalf of the diplomatic mission, including if they possess data on citizens of Moldova from the regions hit,’’ Daniel Voda said.
The phone line for consular emergencies from Moldova’s embassy in Ankara is set up in regime of permanency, just as the MAEIE’s Call Centre available in Moldova. The most frequent requests of information regard the list of the places of evacuation, procedures of crossing the borders and the citizens’ proper documentation.
