Moldovan head of state informs about launch of Open Book reading promotion national campaign

Chisinau, 14 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has come up with a video message on the birthday of departed poet Grigore Vieru, when Moldova marks the National Reading Day. In the message, the head of state informed about the launch of the Open Book reading promotion national campaign.    

According to the presidential press service, the campaign is backed by Moldova’s Presidency, Education Ministry, Culture Ministry, the National Museum of the Romanian Literature, as well as by creation unions.   

On this occasion, the Moldovan president came up also with a challenge for all reading lovers of any age: ‘’Dear children, teenagers, young people, librarians or teachers fond of books, I urge you to create Reading Clubs in schools, libraries or community centres! The readers are leaders – I want us to educate new generations of leaders in our country – intelligent, creative, with free thinking, capable to adapt themselves in any circumstances and become competitive anywhere in the world,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
