Moldovan rescuers continue searches in earthquake-hit regions of Turkey

Chisinau, 14 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan rescuers continue the searching activities in the earthquake-hit regions of Turkey.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), on 13 February, the team of rescuers continues the works of search and assessing apartment blocks and residential buildings in the intervention areas indicated by Turkish authorities. Thus, following verifications with the help of the technical equipment provided, the Moldovan rescuers identified and extracted the corpse of a person from under rubble of a building.
Following the verification of buildings affected by the earthquake, the team of rescuers from Moldova cooperated with the search and rescue service of Turkey and identified another sector where their intervention is needed. It is presumed that people might be under rubble in the zone established.
Today, the Moldovan rescuers will continue the works of search, as well as of evaluating apartment blocks and residential buildings. These activities are carried out with the help of specialized technology, as well as trained dogs.
Moldova’s search and rescue teams arrived in Turkey for international mission on 9 February morning and during five days, they worked by setting up joint teams with rescuers from Hungary, Mexico, the Netherlands, as well as Turkey.
