Moldovan president congratulates first contingent of Moldovan peacekeepers leaving for Lebanon

Chisinau, February 14 /MOLDPRES/- President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu today congratulated 32 soldiers of the Armed Forces who will be deployed in the UNIFIL - United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. It is the first time that our soldiers go on a UN mission as peacekeepers and not as military observers.
According to the presidential press service, Maia Sandu said that the National Army already has extensive experience in participating in international peacekeeping missions: "Our country is committed to contributing to the strengthening of international security. Thanks to the professionalism of the Moldovan military, with the support of development partners, today we are becoming a regional security provider, a partner that enjoys the trust of other states and supports the efforts of the international peacekeeping community", the official said.
Maia Sandu also said that countries must cooperate to strengthen peace and stability in the world: "Now, more than ever, we must show solidarity and participate in maintaining international peace. Let's help with what we can and how we can better!". At the end, the head of state wished the soldiers a good trip and told them that they are expected safe at home.
