Speaker, OSCE chairman-in-office discussed security challenges facing Moldova

Chisinau, February 14 /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu and OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia Bujar Osmani approached security challenges faced by Moldova as a result of Russia's aggression on Ukraine, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
Grosu said that a priority for our country remains the maintenance of peace, and the authorities will make the necessary efforts in this regard, including at the legislative level. "The safety of citizens and the security of the country is our primary concern now, and we will continue to do whatever is necessary to protect our state and citizens. On the parliamentary agenda, there will be amendments to the Criminal Code that will provide the competent bodies with the necessary tools so that all those who work against their country will be investigated," he said.
The officials also discussed the Transnistrian settlement process, as well as the role of the OSCE in strengthening the resilience of our country. The speaker reiterated that the dialogue in the 5+2 format cannot be restarted as long as a dialogue partner is the aggressor. At the same time, we are obliged to take care that the rights and freedoms of citizens on the left bank are respected, Igor Grosu also said.
