Moldovan government allocates 1.48 billion lei to road fund for 2023

Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean expressed the need to improve the infrastructure, the quality in the process of construction and maintenance of the national and local roads at a meeting of the road fund’s board, held at the government today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The participants in the meeting unveiled the programme on the distribution of the road fund’s means for this year, due to be considered at a cabinet meeting on 22 February.
According to a report presented by Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Lilia Dabija, the government allocated 1.48 billion lei to the road fund for 2023. As much as 828 million of this money is scheduled to be used for maintaining the national roads, 338 million – for the maintenance during summer and 55 million lei – during winter. The rest of the money will be distributed for the maintenance of bridges, carrying out of works of designing and evaluation, purchasing equipment, etc.
„The financial means will be distributed for the maintenance and repair of the engineering constructions and national public roads with a total length of 5,951 km,’’ Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Lilia Dabija said.
„It is quite important that we make sure that the financial resources earmarked for the construction and maintenance of roads are used efficiently. The works must be monitored attentively, so that the citizens benefit from qualitative roads,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.
The participants in the meeting approved also the plan on the monthly disbursement of road fund’s means for the 2023 year. Last year, the government allocated 1.81 billion lei to the road fund, of which 1.63 billion was turned to account.
