Candidates for governor of Gagauzia to take Gagauz language exam

Chisinau, February 22 /MOLDPRES/- Linguistic commission was set up in Comrat, which will assess the knowledge of the Gagauz language, a mandatory condition for the registration of candidates for the position of governor of Gagauzia, whose elections will take place on April 30.

The testing is organized by a special linguistic commission, which includes PhD in philology and Gagauz language teachers. The exam takes place in the headquarters of the Electoral Commission of Gagauzia.

Such a test was carried out for the first time in the 2019 regional election, the amendment being included in the electoral regulation of autonomy in 2015.

The governor (bashkan) is the supreme official of Gagauzia. All the authorities of the public administration of the autonomy are subordinated to the governor. Governor elections are held once every four years.
