Moldova, Romania received certificate on inscription of art of traditional blouse with embroidery on shoulder on UNESCO representative list

Chisinau, 23 Feb. /MOLDPRES/- The certificate on inscription of the art of the traditional blouse with embroidery on the shoulder (altiţă) — an element of cultural identity in Romania and the Republic of Moldova on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity was handed yesterday at an official ceremony to ambassadors Corina Călugaru and Simona-Mirela Miculescu by Secretary of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage Tim Curtis.
According to Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan, the decision to inscribe the element, adopted on December 1, 2022 during the 17th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage held in Rabat, Morocco, is a recognition of the role of art the shirts with altita both for the national identity and as an element carrying universal cultural value.
"On this occasion, we bring sincere congratulations to all those who participated in the file, to the communities of creators and folk craftsmen who tirelessly ensure, day by day, the transmission from generation to generation of the art of the high-waisted shirt and the perpetuation of this unique cultural heritage. Many high-profile cultural events are coming up, to promote and use this art", Prodan said.
