Chisinau, 23 Feb. /MOLDPRES/- The European Union has consolidated its position as the main commercial partner of the Republic of Moldova, and currently almost 60% of Moldovan exports are directed to the European market. This was announced today in Chisinau by Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, after the meeting with the delegation of the European Parliament's Committee on International Trade, led by Bernd Lange.
Dumitru Alaiba said that several priorities in the economic and commercial field were discussed at the meeting, including expanding the range of domestic products admitted to the EU market, increasing exports of products with a higher level of processing, the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU program on the single market, continuing to reduce the administrative pressure on the business environment, negotiating and signing the European Agreement on conformity assessment and acceptance of industrial products, eliminating roaming charges with the EU.
"Today we received a clear message that Moldova's place is in Europe. The economic and commercial cooperation relations between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova experienced an unprecedented boost. 60 percent of our trade is with the European Union. Moldovan exports mainly have one direction: to Europe. The free trade agreement is a great opportunity for our goods. We know how to invest in the quality of goods, in the diversification of markets and products, in competitiveness and in management. Thus our products have increasing access in the EU, where quality is needed. We count on support in the continuation of trade liberalization, eliminating tariff quotas and entry prices for Moldovan products on the EU market", said Alaiba.
The Chair of the European Parliament's Committee on International Trade, Bernd Lange, appreciated the efforts of the Republic of Moldova to become a competitive partner on the European market.
