Moldova reaffirmed solidarity with Ukrainian people at UN, joined international community's call for peace

Chisinau, 23 Feb. /MOLDPRES/- State Secretary Ruslan Bolbocean participated in the 11th emergency special session of the UN General Assembly on Ukraine, which resumed work in New York to debate and adopt the draft resolution, co-authored by Moldova and entitled "the draft resolution "Principles of the UN Charter that underline the comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine", the MAEIE press service has reported.
In his speech, the official referred to the fact that the unjust and unprovoked war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine threatened not only the integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, but also destabilized European security, undermining the international legal order through the flagrant and continuous violation of the UN Charter and the principles of international and humanitarian law.
Admiration was expressed for the courage and resilience of Ukrainians in the fight for freedom, justice and survival, and a message of solidarity with the families of the victims was conveyed.
The official reiterated our country's international commitment to provide protection to Ukrainian refugees, including through the activation by the Government of the Republic of Moldova of the temporary protection mechanism. He also expressed the openness of the Republic of Moldova to continue providing humanitarian support to Ukraine and facilitating the transit of goods.
He spoke about the obligation - including moral - of the international community to continue supporting Ukraine and focusing on the need to hold the aggressor accountable for all the atrocities committed.
The Moldovan diplomat said that Ukraine and the entire international community need a sustainable way out of this war, the peace formula proposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky is a comprehensive initiative that has all the necessary ingredients to establish a lasting peace in Ukraine .
He reiterated support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and called for an immediate end to the war of aggression and for Russia to withdraw its military forces from the territory of Ukraine.
