Eugen Doga Cultural Centre to be built in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Eugen Doga Cultural Centre will be built in the Moldovan capital. The composer and the Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, signed a memorandum on cooperation today.     

At a news conference, the Chisinau mayor stressed that the local authorities had identified the ground and the financial means needed for the project’s implementation. ‘’The centre will have concert spaces indoors and outdoors. Our duty is for the genius to be turned to good account. We should be proud that we are contemporaries with Eugen Doga and cultivate these values to the young generation,’’ Ion Ceban said.    

For his part, master Eugen Doga thanked for the initiative to create a cultural centre due to bear his name. ‘’This was a dream of mine. We have a musical people; therefore, we are set for the new centre to be attractive for young people. I have a lot of nice ideas, which I hope we will fulfill together,’’ Eugen Doga said.     

The Eugen Doga Cultural Centre will be constructed on the Veronica Micle 5 Street. Construction and repair works are to be carried out within the project.  

Eugen Doga was born in the Mocra village, Rabnita district, on 1 March 1937. He finished the Stefan Neaga Music College, Gavriil Musicescu Conservatoire and Arts Institute from Chisinau. The composer signed valuable works in the genre of light music, theatre and movie music. Eugen Doga is the author of the famous waltz titled, My Sweet and Tender Beast, nominated by UNESCO as the fourth musical masterpiece  of the 20th century.
