Moldovan, Ukrainian premiers discuss at videoconference

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean has discussed with Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, in a videoconference format, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The Moldovan government offered thanks to the Ukrainian nation for the firmness with which it defended its borders, as well as the entire Europe. PM Dorin Recean said that the authorities continued to make efforts to integrate the Ukrainian refugees in the Moldovan society, in kindergartens, schools, social projects.
„The war has proved that it is extremely important for us to in solidarity, united and strong. I am sure that our cooperation relations will grow in intensity and the agenda of the joint activities will widen, including the one concerning our inter-institutional cooperation on the energy, security, infrastructure and transport segments,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.
The PM of Ukraine appreciated the fact that the Moldovan authorities had declared 2023 as Year of Ukrainian Culture in Moldova. He reaffirmed the Kyiv government’s support for Moldova: ‘’We value the solidarity of Moldova’s people and I want to assure you that Ukraine is your reliable friend. The European integration of Ukraine and Moldova means our common security and future,’’ Denys Shmyhal stressed.
Also today, Prime Minister Dorin Recean received Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova Marko Shevchenko. The officials assessed the present security context and the challenges in the region. ‘’I hope that, despite the challenges and the latest events, Ukraine and peace will win,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.
For his part, Ambassador Marko Shevchenko thanked the authorities and citizens of Moldova for every support provided to the fellow countrymen who had fled the war: ‘’In the current conditions, the unity and solidarity are essential values for the two states.’’
