Moldovan foreign affairs ministry makes specifications on Russian foreign ministry's statements

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) has made press specifications on statements by the Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry.

According to the MAEIE’s press service, the messages launched by Russia’s authorities in public spaces on the last days on alleged challenges on behalf the Ukrainian armed forces on the central (Transnistrian) segment of Moldova’s state border with Ukraine are not true.

Moldova’s authorities denied these statements as groundless, made in order to manipulate the public opinion. The security situation is stable in the region.

We reiterate the Moldovan authorities’ position on the exclusively peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, based in Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders.

In the context, we deem as provocative the today’s statement by Russia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry and reiterate the need of the unconditional and transparent withdrawal of the Russian military forces and stocks of ammunitions of Cobasna from the territory of Moldova.
