Japan informs about loan worth 100 million dollars for Moldova

Chisinau, 25 February /MOLDPRES/ - Japan will provide Moldova with a loan worth 100 million dollars, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida has made the official announcement on the loan at the G7 Summit.
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu thanked Japan for the support provided to Moldova. According to the deputy PM, the money will be meant for strengthening the state’s capacities and managing the challenges faced by Moldova, as well as for multiple projects on development in diverse fields, including medicine, energy efficiency, agriculture, education, environmental protection and gender equality.
„In my phone discussion with Japanese Foreign Affairs Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa this week, I highly appreciated Japan’s support in these difficult moments, including the support for the European integration and Moldova’s aspiration to be member of the free nations’ family,’’ Nicu Popescu noted.
The G7 Summit was held online and the leaders of the G7 states and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
