Irrigation system in Cantemir district to be rehabilitated with state's help

Chisinau, February 27 /MOLDPRES/- Gotești Central Irrigation System in the Cantemir district, which is not functional, will be rehabilitated from its own resources, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA).

Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, the head of MAIA paid a visit to the station in Cantemir at the end of the week to analyze the technical condition of the system and the actions that can be taken by the authorities together with economic agents to rehabilitate it.

Bolea said that for the ministry it is a priority to make the use of centralized irrigation systems more efficient and the focus is on increasing the access of all agricultural producers to water sources for irrigation.

The Goteşti irrigation system was built during the Soviet period. It has an irrigation capacity for over two thousand hectares.
