Moldovan diplomacy head has phone conversation with Israeli counterpart

Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has had a phone conversation with Foreign Affairs Minister of Israel Eli Cohen. The two officials discussed the tense security situation in the region and the negative impact on Moldova, triggered by Russia’s war against Ukraine, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.

„We stressed the close relations between Moldova and the State of Israel, based on historical relations and a dynamic cooperation in the political, economic, humanitarian sectors and within international organizations.

We appreciated the role of the Jewish community in the development of our partnership and I reiterated the firm commitment to honour the memory of the Holocaust victims and protect and promote the Jewish legacy in Moldova. In the context, we discussed also the organization of actions on the commemoration of 120 years since the Pogrom (organized massacre of a particular ethnic group) against Jews from Chisinau.

We agreed on consolidating the political dialogue, extending the commerce and cooperation in the tourism sector and boost our joint efforts in the fight against corruption,’’ the Moldovan diplomacy head said.
