European Union states solidary with Moldova's aspirations

Chisinau, 8 March /MOLDPRES/ - The European Union states are solidary with Moldova’s aspirations. Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu today made statements to this effect following a meeting with a group of women ministers and state secretaries for European affairs, on a visit to Chisinau.
According to the quoted source, a delegation of women ministers and state secretaries representatives in the EU General Affairs Council from Austria, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Romania, Sweden and Hungary is on a visit to Chisinau. The women came to Moldova, in order to mark the country’s affiliation with the European family and back the efforts of gender equality’s promotion.
“This visit by women representatives of eight states is a strong message of our country’s support in the European integration. And together, we today stress the importance of the gender equality, which is a fundamental value. This visit comes also in the context of the difficult situation in our region, as well as our country, in the wake of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The war consolidated even more our wish to bring Moldova to the free world and to the great European family,’’ Nicu Popescu said.
The Moldovan diplomacy head reviewed the country’s achievements, specifying that intense work was carried out for the implementation of EU’s recommendations. ‘’Due to the support of our partners, in the last year, we have managed to ensure peace on our territory; now, our goals are clear – Moldova’s preparation for the negotiations on accession,’’ Popescu added.
The women from the European delegation showed impressed by the effort made by Moldova’s authorities, as well as by the country’s residents in the process of management of the flow of refugees. They described Moldova as a small country, but with a great heart. The women showed confidence that Moldova’s place was in EU and assured the authorities that they would provide support in the accession process.
