Chisinau, March 24 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova will switch to summer time on March 26, the last Sunday of this month. Thus, on the night from Saturday to Sunday, the clocks will be changed forward by one hour, and 03:00 will become 04:00.
The switch to summer time also takes place due to the fact that the economy of our country is connected to some elements of the European single market through the EU-Moldova Association Agreement.
The switch to summer time aims to make maximum use of sunlight, between April and October. At the same time, several specialists in medicine and psychology argue that the switch to summer time can influence the health and mood of many people, especially those who suffer from chronic diseases.
The switch to summer time is carried out in accordance with the proposal of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and simultaneously with the EU member states.
In March 2019, the MEPs voted to abandon the time change in the European Union starting from 2021. Thus, each EU member state will be able to choose whether to stay at the "summer" or "winter" time (standard time).
