Moldovan, Polish prime ministers sign joint declaration

Chisinau, 6 April /MOLDPRES/ - Poland will further contribute to enhancing the energy security of Moldova and will provide 20 generators, due to be distributed to hospitals and other public institutions of the country. Statements to this effect were made at a meeting of Prime Minister Dorin Recean with his Polish counterpart Mateusz Morawiecki, on an official visit to Chisinau, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

The prime ministers noted that the citizens of both countries were at the border with Russia’s unjust war against Ukraine, firmly backed the Ukrainian people and acted together against acts of undermining the peace and stability in Moldova. A common effort to this end was the recent signing by the heads of eight governments, including Poland, of the letter, through which Moldova addressed the big companies in the IT sector to act against the manipulation and misinformation.     

According to PM Dorin Recean, Poland considerably contributes to the development of Moldova and to the carrying out of projects on modernization in such sectors as agriculture, domestic affairs and regional development. At the same time, the official emphasized the need to boost the cooperation in the fields of transport, defence, cyber security and public safety, as well as consolidation of the economic cooperation, referring to investment opportunities provided by Moldova. ‘’We want the people from Poland, as well as from the entire Europe regard Moldova as a country with opportunities and the economic agents should feel in safety,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.       

A step to the strengthening the economic cooperation was the organization of the Moldovan-Polish business forum, with the participation of over 50 companies from both states, during which two documents were signed – memorandum in the renewable energy sector and the memorandum for the development of the railway. The number of Chisinau-Warsaw-Chisinau flights, made by the Polish air operator,  will be also supplemented, in order to foster the bilateral contacts between the two countries.  

In another context, Prime Minister Dorin Recean appreciated the support provided by Poland to Moldova’s aspirations to become European Union member. ‘’We edify Europe at home, for our citizens to be able to start a business, have a well-paid salary, good roads and schools, to benefit from medical services and social assistance just as in Europe. In this process, we rely on the continuous support of Poland,’’ the Moldovan official noted.    

For his part, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stressed that his country was prepared to provide support and expertise for the process of Moldova’s accession to the European Union. ‘’We will back the actions of the Chisinau authorities, meant to speed up the European integration and open the negotiations on accession to EU. We remain a firm supporter of the irreversibility of this European integration and we will provide systemic support for the implementation of the reforms launched for people’s benefit,’’ PM Mateusz Morawiecki stressed.   

In the end of the meeting, Prime Ministers Dorin Recean and Mateusz Morawiecki approved the joint declaration and the bilateral memorandum on cyber security.
