Moldova sends humanitarian aid batch to Turkey in areas affected by earthquakes

Chisinau, April 8 /MOLDPRES/- The government sends a batch of humanitarian aid to the population of Turkey that suffered as a result of the natural calamities caused by earthquakes on 6-7 February. Its total value is over 8 million lei (400 thousand euros).
Thus, six trucks, with a load of 317.93 cubic meters of material goods, are being escorted today by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations at the Leușeni border crossing point.
The batch includes hygiene kits and sets, medical supplies, blankets, pillows, sanitary ware and other strictly necessary goods, and it is to reach the regions affected by the earthquake.
The decision to send the aid was taken by the Chisinau Government following a request from the Turkish Government addressed to the international community. As a result, the Ministry of Internal Affairs identified a batch of material goods to be granted as humanitarian aid to the affected people.
The earthquakes that shook Turkey in early February caused more than 48 thousand deaths. Our country has sent a team of 55 rescuers, 12 emergency vehicles and two dogs to the affected areas to help the affected people. At the same time, the Ministry of Finance opened an account to collect money as a donation, to support the Turkish people.
