Chisinau, April 8 /MOLDPRES/- President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu today congratulated representatives of the Roma ethnic group, who live in the Republic of Moldova, on International Romani Day, marked on April 8, the presidential press service has reported.
"Settled in Moldova for over half a millennium, the Roma are today an indissoluble part of our multicultural and multi-ethnic society. The Roma have given our country many personalities of which we are all proud, and the effervescence of their talents has shone on many stages of the world", says the head of state.
Maia Sandu said that respect for traditions, ardent passion and eternal need for freedom characterize the Romani genetic code and are precious traits if they are put in the right framework and used at their fair value.

This is the fruit of the effort that each of these people made, confidently overcoming prejudices and barriers", the president said.
The president notes that in these complicated times in which we live, unity, generosity and care for each other are essential. "I urge you to stay united, respect each other and fight together for a better life here at home! Much health, joy and fulfillment to all Roma, big and small, in any corner of the country!", Maia Sandu said.
