Prices for food products increase in Moldova in last March

Chisinau, 11 April /MOLDPRES/ - The average consumer prices grew by 0.8 per cent in last March against February 2023. The increase was prompted a 1.1-per cent growth of the prices for food products and a 2.1-per cent increase in the prices for the services provided to residents. At the same time, the prices for the non-food products decreased by 0.2 per cent. The National Statistics Bureau (BNS) unveiled data to this effect today.
In March 2023, as for the food products, the highest increases in average consumer prices were recorded for vegetables – 11.8 per cent, including, cucumbers, onions, zucchini and mild pepper, tomatoes and cabbage. At the same time, the prices for eggs decreased by 12 per cent and for vegetable oil – by 0.5 per cent.
As for the non-food products, on the concerned period, the average prices for fuels dropped by 2.1 per cent. At the same time, the average prices for medicines grew by 1.1 per cent, as well as the ones for construction materials and footwear.
The average consumer prices increased by 22 per cent in March 2023 against March 2022. Thus, the annual inflation rate diminished by 3.9 percentage points in March 2023 against the level registered in the month before.
