Three micro-regions to benefit from support for local economic development in Moldova

Chisinau, 11 April /MOLDPRES/ - Three micro-regions have received grants worth 400,000 dollars each, in order to stimulate the local economic growth in the next two years. The funds were provided through the project, Resilient and inclusive markets in Moldova, financed by Switzerland and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
According to UNDP, the beneficiaries selected through the competition are the settlements Coșnița, Criuleni, Pârâta, Doroțcaia and Slobozia-Dușca, with economic specialization in local tourism; Nisporeni, Vărzărești, Ciutești, Boldurești, Soltănești, Grozești, Bălăurești and Seliște: cultivation and processing of medicinal and aromatic plants; Cimișlia, Sadaclia, Ciucur-Mingir, Cenac, Valea Perjei, Hârtop and Mihailovca: breeding sheep and goats, as well as processing of dairy products and their derivatives.
Through this support, the micro-regions will be able to develop the economic specializations identified, thus enhancing the competitiveness on the national and international markets and creating decent jobs, including for the vulnerable residents, migrants returned and refugees from Ukraine.
The project, Resilient and inclusive markets in Moldova, is set to enhance the local economic development in communities through backing the local entrepreneurship, increasing investments and creation of decent jobs for local residents, especially young people, women, disabled people, returned migrants and refugees.
