Moldova's agriculture becoming increasingly important as region of origin of cereals

Chisinau, May 2. /MOLDPRES/- The agriculture of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, including the Republic of Moldova, is becoming increasingly important as a region of origin of grain and oilseed crops and as a low-risk supplier in conditions of uncertainty and disruptions of the logistics chain. The statement was made during the EURO GRAIN HUB Exchange & Forum, held on April 27-28 in Bucharest, considered the most important spring event in the grain industry in Europe.
Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry spoke at the forum about the impact of the war in Ukraine on the agricultural sector, as well as the support provided by the Republic of Moldova in support of Ukrainian refugees and the transit of Ukrainian grains. The official highlighted the importance of international cooperation in the context of the current crisis, reiterating the commitment of the Republic of Moldova to coordinate efforts to overcome the crisis on the agricultural market. At the same time, Bolea requested the EU help to support price stabilization activities and agricultural markets.
Bolea talked to his Romanian counterpart Petre Daea about the consolidation of institutional cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Romania in agriculture. The deputy premier said that the Republic of Moldova needs Romania's support in harmonizing national legislation with community norms, in the agricultural segment. The relevant mechanisms were analyzed to ensure the efficiency of the support, with the involvement not only of the representatives of the key public authorities, but also of the representatives of the business environment, the academic and research community.
EURO GRAIN HUB brought together representatives from more than 30 countries - government officials, agricultural producers, traders, logistics and agricultural input companies, processors, warehouses, financing and risk management institutions, companies in the legal sphere.
