Moldovan authorities to improve conditions for pupils in schools

Chisinau, 3 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Education and Research Ministry (MEC) will annually announce a tender for the financing of projects on renovation, reconstruction and rehabilitation of sanitary units at education institutions from Moldova – primary schools, gymnasiums and lyceums. The files on tender will be submitted by the education institutions or, as case may be, - by the local public authorities. A regulation on the organization and holding of the tender was approved by the cabinet today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.       

The decision approved will contribute to the ensuring of the conditions of water, hygiene and sanitation at general education institutions and potential beneficiaries will fill in a form, in which they will put down data on the number of children at the institution, the needs of renovation of the water and sewerage systems or sanitary units, the existence of rooms for new sanitary units and other information related. The decision on financing will be approved by a commission made up of representatives of more state institutions.     

The regulation was worked out by MEC, in cooperation with the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry. Works of renovation, reconstruction or rehabilitation of sanitary units at education institutions, worth 25 million lei in all, are to be carried out from the state budget during this year.
