Training centre in epidemiology inaugurated at Nicolae Testemitanu Medical University from Moldova

Chisinau, 10 May /MOLDPRES/ - A training centre in epidemiology has been inaugurated at the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF), in order to ensure the training of specialists in public health.
The centre was endowed with 15 computers, three interactive tables, three LED TV sets and seven IT sets, provided with the support of the European Union and the World Health Organization (WHO). The centre’s beneficiaries will be students of the faculties of Medicine and Stomatology, including those who study at the syllabi of public health and preventive medicine, physicians residents, as well as the medical staff involved in the process of continuous medical education, who will consolidate their theoretical and practical knowledge in the field.
At the event, the state secretary at the Health Ministry, Svetlana Nicolaescu, said that, at present, there was a strong partnership between USMF Nicolae Testemitanu, especially with the epidemiology discipline. ‘’This training centre enhances the interest in the future specialists and aligns with the priorities of the national health system. The major goal of the European Moldova 2023 national development strategy is the digitalization. In the context, in 2022, the government established the Information System of Supervision of the Transmissible Diseases and of the Public Health Events,’’ Nicolaescu noted.
The Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy provides syllabi for the training of specialists in public health in the field of epidemiological supervision and consolidation of the immunization services. The epidemiology discipline annually trains about 1,200 resident students and physicians.
