Chisinau, May 16. /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) initiated the process for the creation of a trading platform for agri-food products in the Republic of Moldova. Negotiations were launched yesterday with the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau and Romanian Commodities Exchange (BRM) Executive Director Ion Lupulescu to expand the BRM in our country in the agricultural products.

BRM publishes the prices at which several types of goods are sold and bought, including agricultural products. Thus, sellers and buyers know the price to refer to.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, the head of MAIA, the presence of BRM in our country will help farmers better understand the market and would ensure predictability. Thus, they will be able to respond more effectively to offers.

For his part, Ion Lupulescu said that to have effective access to the stock market regime, agricultural producers must associate. According to him, the association ensures competitiveness both in terms of logistics and the financial component.

The parties discussed the legal mechanisms to be developed to launch the platform and the need to use banking instruments meant to exclude uncertainty between commercial partners, especially regarding the capacities to honor their contractual obligations. At the same time, the participants in the discussions agreed to boost the cooperation between MAIA and BRM, in order to achieve the exchange of information.
