Moldova, Austria to develop partnerships in more projects on infrastructure, digitalization

Chisinau, 16 May /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today had a meeting with President of the Austrian National Council (parliament) Wolfgang Sobotka, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
This is the first visit to Moldova by a parliament speaker of Austria during those 31 years since the establishment of the Moldovan-Austrian diplomatic relations. ‘’This visit proves once again that the Moldovans and Moldova are not alone in our European integration process,’’ Igor Grosu said in the beginning of the discussions.
The two parliament speakers referred to Moldova’s reforms’ agenda concerning the justice, energy security and the information one. Igor Grosu also touched upon the country’s ambitious plan to start the negotiations on accession to the European Union till late 2023. ‘’This is not an easy road to cover, but we have determination, political will, as well as the citizens’ support,’’ the Moldovan parliament speaker stressed.
At the meeting, the sides also approached topical subjects, among which opportunities of boosting the cooperation between Moldova and Austria. The officials agreed that the two countries become partners in more infrastructure projects, projects on digitalization and Moldova should benefit from Austrian experience in such sectors as agriculture, green energy and industry. The parliament noted that Austria had always been a reliable partner for Moldova and the latter relied on support in continuation.
„Europe is strong only together,’’ is the message conveyed by Speaker Sobotka at the meeting. This message is also to be conveyed to all participants in the European Moldova Assembly, due on the Great National Assembly Square on 21 May.
