Chisinau, 16 May /MOLDPRES/ - The consumption of electric energy, natural gas, thermal energy and water of more than 3,000 public institutions from Moldova will be monitored through the Energy Management Information System (EMIS). Statistics data on the consumption of energy and water will be accumulated based on the monthly invoices and will be analyzed, in order to subsequently establish energy efficiency measures, which can be enforced by the institutions’ managers.
The system was adapted in Moldova and earlier tested in 17 public institutions from the Chisinau city, with the support of the United Nations Development Programme and the Global Environment Facility. Now, it is extended nationally due to the partnership of Green City Lab Moldova with the Expert-Grup Independent Analytical Centre and financial support of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Moldova.
Energy Minister Victor Parlicov says that the energy management was an acute need for the public institutions and the inefficient use of the electricity, gas or water means the dissipation of public money, which would have been invested in projects on Moldova’s development and modernization. ‘’The problem has become more pronounced in the context of the increase in the tariffs for electric energy, thermal energy and natural gas, when the resources needed for the payment of invoices exceeded the initial planning by far. Energy efficiency measures should be enforced and the collection and analysis of the data on the consumption of resources is a first step to this end,’’ Victor Parlicov said.
Within the project, 300 buildings with the lowest energy efficiency will benefit, for free, from energy audit and energy management services, including the elaboration of a plan of concrete actions, in order to reduce the consumption of energy and water and decrease the payments for invoices.
