Chisinau, June 12. /MOLDPRES/- The promulgation decree and the law to amend Law no. 170/2007 on status of the intelligence and security officer were published today in the Official Journal and entered into force.

The document aims to ensure the independence of the SIS activity, to review the mandate of the institution's management, to specify the duties.

Thus, when finalizing the law, the SIS duties were conceptually reviewed and the SIS obligations and powers were established, excluding ambiguities and excessive rights. Also, the director's duties were adjusted.

The law enters into force upon publication in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova. The government, within six months from the date of entry into force of this law: will present to the Parliament proposals regarding bringing the legislation in line with this law; will bring its normative acts in line with this law.
